White Ribbon Fundraising

We work with White Ribbon UK, the leading charity in England and Wales engaging men and boys to help prevent violence against women and girls.

And in recent weeks, we’ve also been supporting Gill Millane, the mother of backpacker Grace Millane, whose life was tragically taken in New Zealand in 2018, with her fundraising efforts for White Ribbon UK.

Gill’s connection to the charity began after she saw White Ribbons displayed at a vigil for Grace in New Zealand. It inspired her to do all she could to help raise awareness of the need to educate men and boys on this issue.

In the years since, she’s taken on a number of fundraising challenges, including climbing Kilimanjaro and reaching Everest Base Camp.

Her latest expedition carries particular emotional significance, as she is effectively following in Grace’s footsteps after her daughter visited Machu Picchu in the months before her death.

With plans to leave a tribute to Grace at the iconic site, we worked with Gill and White Ribbon UK to help share her story, her plans and the reasons behind them.

This has led to a flurry of media coverage, including BBC News and ITV Anglia, as well as regional titles such as the Yellow Advertiser in Essex, where Gill is from, and the Southend Echo.

Not only has the coverage helped support fundraising for a vital cause, it’s also helped keep Grace’s memory alive, which we are very proud to support.

And that’s our Pic of the Week!
