Social care comments

We work with a number of clients across the social care sector, including luxury home care provider Venelle and Nellsar Care Homes, a group with homes across Kent, Surrey and Essex.

And when Prime Minister Andy Burnham delivered a major speech on social care reform last week, we spotted an opportunity to make sure those delivering care were part of the conversation.

The speech outlined plans to explore the creation of a National Care Service, strengthen the workforce and help more people receive support at home.

But social care isn’t one-size-fits-all.

So, we put forward two spokespeople who could offer perspectives from both home care and dementia specialist care.

Louise Blezzard, Founder and CEO of Venelle, welcomed the focus on helping people remain at home, while highlighting the need for home care to be properly considered within the reforms.

Her comments were featured on Heart 4 Counties and Heart Hertfordshire.

We also put forward Nellsar Care Homes Managing Director Martin Barrett, who stressed that those already working across social care must be involved in shaping any new National Care Service.

He also highlighted the need for sustainable funding and reform that protects people’s dignity and independence.

Martin secured coverage in key care trade titles The Carer and The Care Home Environment.

He also appeared on Kent-based KMTV and Heart Essex, placing Nellsar at the centre of the regional conversation too.

By reacting quickly and offering relevant perspectives from different parts of the sector, we secured a strong mix of trade and regional broadcast coverage for both clients.

And it shows how timely expert commentary can help clients contribute to a major national conversation, while raising their profiles with the audiences that matter.
