Recognition Beyond the Kitchen

We work with Milford Care, a group of six care homes across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

And one of the people at the heart of the group is Richard Glover, Group Catering Manager for Milford Care and head chef at Ashbourne Lodge.

Now, Richard does something quite special - he focuses on resident nutrition, and in particular dementia-friendly food that works for the people he cooks for.

And that work recently earned him some well deserved recognition, with a win at the Dementia Care Awards for his approach to nutrition.

Award submissions are something we're regularly doing for clients, so we knew a win like this can provide a brilliant PR hook when you look to maximise the exposure around it - focusing on a chef being celebrated nationally for transforming the way residents with dementia are fed.

Pushing it to media saw the coverage start to roll in, first appearing locally in Amber Valley as well as a print feature in the Derbyshire Telegraph.

But the real standout was BBC News, who ran a piece on Richard's dementia nutrition work     earning him national recognition.

That coverage then went even further, with the story syndicated across AOL and Yahoo! Life too, taking Richard's achievement to a huge audience.

The interest didn't stop there either, as BBC Breakfast are now in discussion to speak to Richard and get him on the TV.

A lovely bit of PR for Milford Care, that shone a light on the fantastic work happening in its kitchens.

And it's a great reminder that an award win is only the start - with the right push, one accolade can open the door to national exposure.
