Get Naked

We work with Church Farm Care, a Nottinghamshire based care group.

And with the recent heatwave sending temperatures soaring, we spotted an opportunity to tap into a topical moment.

Now, staying cool in the heat has been dominating headlines - but we wanted to find a different angle to target.

And that's where the residents came in.

Many of them lived through the famous heatwave of 1976 - the infamous summer that's since gone down in British folklore.

So we suggested Church Farm Care ask its residents to share their own advice on how to keep cool, drawing on their memories of coping with the scorching temperatures 50 years earlier.

With the team gathering their tips, it made for some brilliant and characterful content - including one particularly memorable piece of advice to simply get naked.

This gave us a wonderfully human story to share with the media, blending a topical news peg with genuine nostalgia and a good dose of humour.

And it landed well.

We secured coverage with key local title,  the Mansfield Chad, with the headline "Keep cool and get naked"

Before the story was then picked up nationally by NationalWorld, before being syndicated via MSN, broadening its reach even further.

On top of this, we've got ongoing talks with BBC Radio Nottingham to get one of the residents on air to share their tips directly - a lovely potential extension to the story.

A simple idea, but one that put Church Farm Care in front of both its local and national audiences, while giving its residents a real moment to shine.

And it shows the value of reacting to what's happening around you or in the news.

And that's our Pic of the Week!
