Children's Christmas book

We’ve been working with high-end homecare provider Venelle on a special project to help bring generations together this Christmas.

The festive season can be chaotic, especially when grandparents – who may have mobility issues or dementia – come to stay.

To tackle this, we’ve worked with Venelle to create a charity children’s book titled ‘Granny’s Coming To Ours For Christmas’.

Narrated by "Dolly the Dachshund", the story teaches children how to be "host heroes."

It encourages little ones to take thoughtful steps, such as clearing away toys to prevent trips or creating quiet corners for rest, ensuring older relatives feel safe and included.

The creation of the book also taps into personal stories – combining the expertise of Venelle’s CEO, former nurse Louise Blezzard, with illustrations by 22-year-old art student Chloe Hills-Lowbridge.

For Chloe, the project was a personal tribute, with ‘Granny’ based on memories of her own late grandmother.

Combining these aspects with the fact that all proceeds are going to London dementia charity, Resonate Arts, meant there was a strong media angle.

Announcing the book to the press sparked a flurry of interest from outlets keen to explore the personal stories behind the initiative.

The campaign has already seen Louise appear live on Sky News Breakfast to discuss the book, with a slot on Radio 4 scheduled for Christmas Eve, while further interest in the pipeline from the likes of GMTV and BBC Breakfast.

It proves that genuine, multi-layered stories are the key to unlocking prime broadcasting opportunities.

And that’s our Pic of the Week!
