For hotels, good PR gets you bookings.

Found on the border of England and Wales, Bryn Tanat is remote.
 
The Telegraph did a piece on why you should visit the area, the Welsh Marches, highlighting the best things to do – and listing Bryn Tanat Hall as the place to stay.

The sizzle sells the sausage, as they say, and selling the wider location marks Bryn Tanat out as a place to go.
 
Within a day of the article being published, Bryn Tanat Hall had someone book for an entire week – specifying the article as the reason behind their booking.
 
The costs of hosting the journalist then, were easily covered by that one booking alone.
 
And not only that, a follow link pointing back to the Bryn Tanat website (effectively an endorsement from the Telegraph in the eyes of Google) is a great booster from an SEO rankings perspective – meaning Bryn Tanat will enjoy the benefits of the coverage long after the traffic to the page has died down.
 
Press stays, then, are worth it.
