Repurposing a space in your establishment can make a great news story for local press

Recently, we helped the Hotel St George in Harrogate shout about its new gin bar. Well, we say new, it was basically an existing bar that was spruced up and dedicated specifically to gin.

And low and behold, Harrogate had its first dedicated gin bar – a great hook for local press to jump on.

Writing up a press release to announce it, our PR team then sent this to the relevant local media alongside some pictures of the ‘new’ bar. This saw a raft of press coverage roll in, including The Harrogate Advertiser, both online and in print, Yorkshire Live, The York Press (online twice) and in print, The Yorkshire Times and also via the Business Desk, which is dedicated to Yorkshire business news.

Furthermore, it was also featured in The Caterer as part of its hotel openings section – putting it in front of other industry professionals.

On the face of it, it was a relatively small overhaul, just using an existing space but putting a fresh spin on it. Yet this created a buzz in the local community and the bar has proven a popular attraction in the town – with many hearing about the new offering having first read about it in the newspaper.

If you’ve made changes over lockdown or since reopening, then why not have a chat with us to see what we can do to help you shout about it.
