They want your blood!
I’m a big fan of music festivals and I’ve spent most of the last 5 summers living in a field and meandering around tent pegs. So, when a story about a festival crops up it often catches my eye. This one is very unusual however…
There are plenty of working opportunities at festivals, which mean you get a free ticket, special camping, food vouchers and if you’re lucky you’ll be paid on top. If you’re really lucky you might get a shower.
From litter picking to bar work and stewarding to making origami animals in the family fields. There’s something to suit your skills and you get to have glitter on your face and wear the most hideous outfits, I mean ‘festival chic’ of course…All the ingredients for a pretty good day at the ‘office.’
Taking a step back from the usual, over in Romania they’ve been getting pretty creative with ways to bring people in for a first time music festival.
Untold Festival is offering a 30% discount or free tickets to anyone who donates their blood. The festival is set in Dracula’s hometown so this makes perfect sense, although a little out of the ordinary!
The ‘Pay with Blood’ campaign may well sound like the makings of a low budget horror film, but the festival is keen to raise awareness about blood donations in the country. Romania is ranked second to last in Europe for the number of active blood donors, forty-five first time donors signed up on the first day the campaign was released.
It’s certainly a campaign to get you noticed, especially for a first time festival with no idea of how popular it will be.
Let’s hope it encourages a boost in blood donations long after the party ends.
