Are the children still in need?
Is it just me or is the hype around Children in Need this year missing?
As I was driving into work this morning I heard an advert on the radio reminding everyone that FRIDAY is Children in Need!! Yes, THIS Friday.
I don’t know whether all the Christmas adverts and Black Friday deals has over powered what I personally think is one of the greatest programmes on British TV (apart from I’m a Celeb of course!), but Children in Need 2016 certainly isn’t filling me with excitement this year.
Luckily, I don’t have plans on Friday evening which means from 7.30pm I can sit back, put my feet up and watch our most loved British celebrities help raise some money for Children in Need.
After doing a bit of a Google search I’ve managed to find out a bit more about the events taking place tomorrow and so I feel it’s my duty to let the rest of the world know what on earth’s going on.
First things first, the charity single. Apparently the comeback king Craig David has released a song called ‘All We Needed’ as the official Children in Need single. Did anyone else know this? Because I certainly didn’t!
We also have the well known Strictly Come Dancing Children in Need Special and this year it’s Team GB fighting it out for the glitterball trophy. Medallists Helen Glover MBE (rower), Hollie Webb (hockey), Joe Clarke (canoeist) and Lutalo Muhammad (taekwondo) will all take to the dance floor for a chance to win a trophy like no other.
We’re also going to be presented with a skit from Eddie Redmayne who is promoting his new film Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, as well as a Great British Bake Off special which will include the full team of Mary, Paul, Mel and Sue.
The list of exciting sketches goes on and on and I’m certain Friday night will be a show to remember (at least I have some plans now!), I just wish more people knew about it.
Perhaps it’s just me and I’ve missed all the Children in Need buzz over the past couple of days (too busy working!!) but I think next year the PR, marketing, campaigning and advertising needs to be bigger, better and bolder!
